About New Castle Residents Directory

New Castle has no modern single volume that names every resident. Useful records are divided among the Assessment Office, Elections, the Recorder, and the library's historic collections. We organize those starting points so a current address, a known name, or an older street reference can be taken to the custodian that created the record.

Why We Maintain This Reference

Printed New Castle directories are historic sources, while present-day facts are held in separate systems. The Lawrence County Assessment Office and Recorder carry property and instrument material. Elections releases only the voter information Pennsylvania law permits. The Nicolls History Room and state repositories preserve older directory material. We bring the access routes, contact details, coverage boundaries, and request rules together for local research.

What the Reference Includes

  • Pages by angle: the street directory (address-keyed records), the city directory (the historical shelf), and the resident lookup (one-person searches)
  • Custodians and source types: assessment, recorded deeds, elections, courts, vital records, and the library history room
  • Search paths: address-to-parcel research, directory-entry reading, and date-by-date household trails
  • Access boundaries: Pennsylvania public-record rules, closed material, and targeted request routes when a record is not online

Limits of Our Role

We run a private reference service, not a New Castle office, Lawrence County department, Pennsylvania agency, court, or library. Important limits include:

  • We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in New Castle
  • We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
  • We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
  • We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
  • We cannot promise that every coverage year, link, or office detail here is current at this moment

A custodian office alone can confirm, certify, or amend its record. Material reached here cannot be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
